Class descriptions
Flow

This new Saturday class is a combination of yoga techniques. Including Breathing, Hatha, Kundalini and Vinyasa.
Hatha Yoga
This is considered the grand-father of all yogas. From the Hatha experiment came the other disciplines. A slower moving class. Especially good for beginners. Breath and proper alignment are stressed. class may include standing postures, floor work, balance, backbends and inversions.
Kundalini Yoga
Is a yoga practice designed to free the Kundalini (life) energy that is held in the base of our spines. Through focused breathing exercises “Breath of Fire” and movement techniques this is accomplished. The energy of the Kundalini is released from the navel center. It rises to the crown chakra at the top of the head. The energy then descends down the chakras to the base of the spine. After reaching the root chakra it returns to the navel center. Benefits - a new clarity expands our perceptions. We understand the effect and impact of an action before we take it. Clarity of thought brings choice. Choice brings freedom. Vinyasa Yoga
This is a flowing style of yoga that incorporates Hatha basics. Class may include breathing techniques, standing postures, floor work, balance, backbends and inversions.
Meditation
Stress can be reduced by simple meditation techniques. This is a class in basic meditation, chanting and toning techniques for relaxation and healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear? Comfortable clothing you can move freely in. Class should be taken barefoot to allow for complete foot articulation.

Do I need to bring anything? Some students prefer to bring their own towel, mat, blocks and straps. However, everything you need is here.

I am just a beginner, can I take yoga classes at Harmony Center? A resounding yes! It is important to begin your private practice. You will find the classes open to all levels. Since classes are small, beginners receive individual attention.

What does that mean, "begin your private practice"? Yoga is a form of self study. Through the various techniques you will learn, you can develop a new approach to your life. This approach is a freeing of your individual being on many levels. As I like to say, "You are the mad scientist and your body is your laboratory".
